Dubai/Jeddah/Qatar: Residents from Kodagu living in West Asia have reassured their families back home that they are safe amid the ongoing conflict in the region.
The tensions escalated following the recent military confrontation involving Israel, Iran and the United States, which led to missile and drone strikes across parts of the Gulf. Various International news agencies have reported temporary airspace closures and heightened security measures in several Gulf countries as a precautionary response to the developments.
Speaking to The Kodagu Express, Kiran Chappanda, a native of Virajpet in Kodagu currently residing in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, said the situation there remains stable. “There were a few isolated incidents reported in parts of Abu Dhabi and Dubai earlier, but the situation here is under control. Kodagu families here are safe, and daily life has largely returned to normal,” he said.
He noted that the UAE airspace remains temporarily closed, restricting regular travel. “In case of urgent necessity, people may travel by road to Muscat in Oman and board a flight to India from there, but this is being considered only in genuine emergencies,” he added.
Kiran also urged people back home not to rely on sensational or unverified reports circulating on social media or certain Indian news platforms. “It is always better to follow official government updates and local advisories,” he said, expressing hope that stability would soon return fully.
Meanwhile, Biddappa, originally from Ayyengeri in Kodagu and currently living in the Jeddah region of Saudi Arabia, said that residents in his area are safe. “So far everything is going well in our region. All are safe,” he told The Kodagu Express, adding that he had received news about the Aramco facility reportedly being bombed in the Dammam region.
Speaking to The Kodagu Express, Daya Devaiah, a native of Gonikoppal in Kodagu who is currently residing in Qatar, said, ‘We live in Doha, and the situation here is stable. There have been no missile attacks since last night, and all essential supplies are available. However, schools remain closed and we are working from home.’”
