MADIKERI: As the monsoon approaches, the Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation Limited (CESC) has launched a 24/7 helpline to address electricity-related issues in Kodagu, where power disruptions are a recurring concern during the rainy season.
Known for its hilly terrain and dense forest cover, Kodagu — also called Coorg — often faces power outages during monsoon due to trees falling on power lines, landslides damaging poles, and waterlogging around transformers. With the region receiving some of the highest rainfall in the state, pre-monsoon precautions have become vital.
To avoid untoward incidents and ensure timely response, CESC has now activated dedicated helpline numbers where residents can report faults or damages. People can call the central helpline 1912, the customer service number 9449598665, or contact CESC engineer M. Ramachandra at 9449598601 for immediate assistance.
A CESC official said, “Every year during the monsoon, electricity lines are damaged by falling trees and severe weather. We urge the public not to go near fallen poles or exposed wires and to report such cases to us without delay.”
The helpline is expected to improve response times and prevent potential accidents caused by unattended electrical hazards, especially in remote and rural parts of Kodagu.
