Tata Power Commissions Fast EV Charging Station on Bengaluru–Mysuru–Kodagu Highway

Located within the premises of Sri Krishna Cafe, the charging station allows motorists to take a short break for refreshments and other basic amenities while their vehicles are being charged.

Bengaluru: Electric vehicle (EV) users travelling to Kodagu can now access faster charging facilities along the Bengaluru–Mysuru–Kodagu route, with Tata Power commissioning a new 60 kW DC fast charging station at Sri Krishna Cafe in Bannikuppe on National Highway 275 (NH-275).

According to a press release by The Tata Power Company Limited, the new facility is strategically located on the Mysuru–Madikeri highway, a major corridor connecting Bengaluru and Mysuru with Kodagu, also known as Coorg, one of Karnataka's most popular tourist destinations. The charging station is expected to improve long-distance EV travel by providing a convenient recharge point before motorists continue into the hilly terrain of Coorg.

According to Tata Power, the station is equipped with a 60 kW dual-gun CCS2 DC fast charger, capable of charging compatible electric vehicles from 20 per cent to 80 per cent in around 30 minutes under suitable conditions. The high-speed charger is designed to reduce waiting times for travellers undertaking inter-city journeys.

Located within the premises of Sri Krishna Cafe, the charging station allows motorists to take a short break for refreshments and other basic amenities while their vehicles are being charged, the release stated.

The facility is integrated with Tata Power's EZ Charge digital platform, enabling EV users to locate the station, check charger availability in real time, start charging sessions and make cashless payments through the company's mobile application or RFID cards.

The company said the new installation strengthens charging infrastructure along the Bengaluru–Mysuru–Coorg corridor, which witnesses significant tourist and commercial traffic throughout the year. Improved charging availability is expected to encourage more EV owners to undertake road trips to Kodagu by reducing concerns over charging accessibility.

Tata Power said the deployment forms part of its broader strategy to develop high-capacity green mobility corridors across important economic and tourism routes in South India, supporting the wider adoption of electric vehicles.

The company has been expanding its public charging network across the country and currently operates more than 7,000 public EV charging points across 706 cities and towns. Tata Power said it continues to invest in charging infrastructure as part of its commitment to supporting India's transition towards cleaner transportation.

The release stated that as part of the Tata Group, Tata Power has a diversified energy portfolio with an operational and pipeline capacity exceeding 26 GW, including around 17.5 GW of clean and green energy capacity. The company has also set a target of achieving Net Zero emissions by 2045 while continuing to expand its renewable energy and electric mobility infrastructure.
