Madikeri: A pick-up truck toppled over on the Somwarpet–Madikeri State Highway on Tuesday, 25 November, after one of its tyres is believed to have burst, leaving the driver and multiple labourers injured.

CCTV footage capturing the moment of the crash has been widely circulated on social media, drawing attention to the severity of the incident. According to reports, the driver identified as Ravi sustained significant injuries to his lower back when the vehicle overturned. Two workers, Babu and a labourer hailing from Assam, reportedly suffered leg injuries in the mishap. Two other occupants escaped with relatively minor wounds.

All five injured individuals were immediately taken to the district hospital in Madikeri for treatment, as per a report published by Udayavani. The surveillance camera installed on a nearby building recorded the accident, providing crucial evidence of how the vehicle lost control moments before flipping onto the road.

Local police have registered a case at the Somwarpet police station and have initiated further investigation into the cause of the tyre burst and the circumstances leading up to the accident.
