Madikeri: The lush, mist-laden landscapes of Coorg, one of India’s most loved hill destinations known for its rolling coffee estates, cool climate and evergreen forests have now found an unlikely tribute in the automobile world. Tata Motors has introduced a new colour option named ‘Coorg Clouds’ for its freshly launched Tata Sierra, drawing inspiration from the district’s signature floating white mists.
The Tata Sierra, a nameplate that once defined a generation of adventure-seekers, has made a long-anticipated return to the Indian market. The original Sierra, sold between 1993 and 2001, had become an icon for its distinctive design and early adoption of a lifestyle-SUV identity. After years of speculation and a growing wave of nostalgia around classic Indian vehicles returning in modern avatars, Tata Motors has brought the Sierra back into showrooms and it has immediately reignited memories.
Reintroduced as one of the most eagerly awaited SUVs of the year, the new Sierra comes with an introductory ex-showroom price starting at ₹11.49 lakh. The SUV was first previewed at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo, where its concept form generated considerable buzz. The production-ready version stays remarkably close to that concept, retaining several design cues that honour the original model while offering contemporary styling.
To tap into the emotional connect associated with the first-generation Sierra, Tata Motors has integrated signature throwback design elements. These include a clean, upright nose section and a modern interpretation of the iconic alpine-style rear window, details that longtime automobile enthusiasts will immediately recognise.
The introduction of the ‘Coorg Clouds’ shade adds a striking new dimension to the SUV’s colour palette, evoking the serene, smoky hues of Coorg’s early morning fog. The new Sierra is also offered in five other monotone shades: Andaman Adventure, Bengal Rouge, Pure Grey, Munnar Mist and Pristine White, each named after Indian landscapes or themes to reflect the vehicle’s outdoorsy spirit.
With its blend of nostalgia, modern engineering and culturally inspired aesthetics, the revitalised Tata Sierra positions itself as a compelling choice for buyers who appreciate both heritage and innovation. The ‘Coorg Clouds’ variant, in particular, stands out as a nod to one of India’s most enchanting hill stations in Karnataka , bringing the tranquillity of its weather to urban roads.
