Kushalnagar: A case has been registered against a Mahindra Thar car at the Kushalnagar Traffic Police Station in Kodagu for allegedly violating motor vehicle regulations by using dazzling lights and lights resembling those used on police vehicles.
The action followed a vehicle inspection conducted by the Traffic Police Sub-Inspector and personnel in Kushalnagar. During the inspection, officials found that the Mahindra Thar had been fitted with unauthorised lights, including lighting resembling the warning lights used on police vehicles.
The vehicle was subsequently seized by the traffic police, and a case was registered against the vehicle owner. According to the police notice, the case has been registered under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Motor Vehicles Act.
The use of unauthorised lights, sirens or equipment resembling those used by police and emergency vehicles is prohibited on private vehicles. Such modifications can cause confusion among motorists and potentially pose a road safety risk.
Traffic police have urged vehicle owners to comply with prescribed motor vehicle regulations and refrain from installing unauthorised lighting or warning equipment on private vehicles.
