Virajpet: Virajpet MLA A.S. Ponnanna on Saturday inaugurated the groundwork for a Solid Waste Management Plant, funded with ₹2 crore, in Bittangala near Virajpet. The project, intended to enhance local waste management, falls within the jurisdiction of the Bittangala Gram Panchayat.
During the ceremony, Ponnanna highlighted the government’s investment of ₹2 crore in the facility, with ₹1.5 crore allocated for constructing the building and ₹50 lakh for procuring necessary machinery and equipment.
“The plant will feature a state-of-the-art waste purification unit, designed to process and recover materials efficiently,” he said.
Ponnanna explained that the primary objective is to create a Material Recovery Facility (MRF) employing advanced technology, which he described as crucial for improving waste management standards in the region.
“We aim for high-quality work, with the hope that the plant will be operational as soon as possible,” he said, noting that the plant’s advanced capabilities are expected to significantly benefit residents by providing an effective solution to manage and process waste locally.
