Madikeri: Kodagu native and popular actress Rashmika Mandanna is earning widespread praise for her compelling performance in the recently released Telugu film The Girlfriend. The film, which hit theatres on November 7, has seen a steady rise at the box office, buoyed by glowing reviews and strong word of mouth from audiences across the Telugu states.
Written and directed by Rahul Ravindran, The Girlfriend features an ensemble cast including Rashmika Mandanna, Dheekshith Shetty, Rao Ramesh, Rohini, and Anu Emmanuel. The story revolves around a woman trapped in a stifling relationship who decides to reclaim her freedom, portraying an emotional journey of courage and self-discovery.

Principal photography began in early 2025, with shooting taking place across Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, and other scenic locations in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The film’s soulful soundtrack and background score were composed by Hesham Abdul Wahab, further enhancing its emotional depth.
