Kannur Airport Winter Schedule to Offer 186 Weekly Flights, Boosting Connectivity for Kodagu

Kannur(Keralam): Kannur International Airport in neighbouring Keralam, a key air travel option for Kodagu residents, will operate 186 weekly flight movements connecting 10 international and seven domestic destinations under its winter schedule from October 25, 2026. The revised timetable comes amid continuing disruptions to air travel in West Asia, which have affected flight operations and passenger traffic.
Located at Mattannur in Kannur district, the airport is approximately 90 to 120 km from Madikeri, the headquarters of Kodagu district, and around 55 to 58 km from Virajpet. Its international connections make it an important gateway for residents and tourists travelling to destinations across the Gulf region from Coorg.
According to Kannur International Airport Limited (KIAL), Air India Express and IndiGo will jointly operate the services, comprising 93 arrivals and 93 departures every week. Of the total, 59 weekly flights will connect international destinations, while 34 will serve domestic routes.
The international network will cover Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Doha, Dubai, Fujairah, Jeddah, Muscat, Ras Al Khaimah, Riyadh and Sharjah. Domestic services will connect Bengaluru, Chennai, Kochi, Delhi, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Thiruvananthapuram.
Abu Dhabi will have 14 weekly services, followed by Doha with 10. Dubai will receive eight flights a week, while Sharjah will have seven. Daily services to Fujairah will continue, although IndiGo's flights to Abu Dhabi and Fujairah are scheduled to commence only on December 1.

The winter timetable will also improve connectivity to select destinations. Services to Jeddah will increase to three a week from two during the summer schedule. Hyderabad will receive five weekly flights, compared with four previously.
Air India Express will retain four weekly services to Thiruvananthapuram. IndiGo will also restore its daily connecting flights to the Kerala capital via Kochi after reducing their frequency during the summer schedule owing to aircraft shortages.
The revised schedule comes amid geopolitical tensions in West Asia, which have created uncertainty for airlines operating from Kannur. A substantial share of the airport's international passenger traffic is linked to Gulf destinations, making its operations vulnerable to regional disruptions.
KIAL officials expressed hope that the situation would stabilise, allowing airlines to restore services and consider additional flights during the peak travel months of December and January.
The airport management said it anticipated higher passenger demand during this period, with any expansion dependent on prevailing conditions, airline decisions and operational feasibility.
