MADIKERI: Olympic medallist and badminton icon PV Sindhu recently escaped the bustle of city life with a trip to Coorg, also known as Kodagu, and shared a slice of that serenity with her followers on Instagram. Her post, filled with humour and heartfelt admiration for the region’s natural beauty, has struck a chord with fans — and possibly sparked some new real estate ambitions.

In a lighthearted jab at a friend, Sindhu wrote, “Also, @rishisreedharan — you’re officially a bad friend for planting the idea of buying a coffee estate in my husband’s head. But fine, I’ll forgive you, because honestly, this is kind of perfect.” The comment, though playful, echoes what many visitors to Kodagu feel after witnessing the charm of its mist-covered hills, coffee-scented air, and calm that seems to slow down time.

Sindhu painted a vivid picture of her journey to Coorg: “300 kms, two playlists, and one identity crisis later… I’m sipping coffee in the middle of a dreamy estate in Coorg we called home — surrounded by trees, birds, and a man who takes being extra to Olympic levels.” Her caption combined wit with wonder as she described the estate teeming with over 600 species of birds and 14 types of wild animals, nestled in a region known for its biodiversity.

Coorg, often dubbed the ‘Scotland of India’, is one of Karnataka’s most beloved hill destinations. Famous for its sprawling coffee plantations, lush forests, and Kodava hospitality, it offers a perfect retreat for those seeking peace and a deeper connection with nature. Adventure seekers, bird watchers, and nature lovers flock to Coorg year-round.

PV Sindhu, a two-time Olympic medallist and one of India’s most celebrated athletes, rarely shares snippets of her private life. But through this glimpse, it’s clear that the magic of Coorg made an impression — perhaps strong enough to inspire a second home.
