Virajpet: Virajpet town police have busted a prostitution racket being run under the guise of a massage parlour in Gandhinagar and arrested four persons. Four women were rescued during the operation.
Police sources, quoted by Asianet Suvarna News report, said the racket had been operating for the past six months from a house in Gandhinagar, a prominent locality of Virajpet. The parlour, set up as a wellness centre, was allegedly being used for illegal activities. The business was reportedly managed by Pradeep and Shiju, both residents of Kerala, according to the report.
Acting on credible information, police carried out a raid and apprehended four people. Two agents involved in the racket are absconding, and efforts are on to trace them.
The rescued women include two from Kodagu, one from Mangaluru, and another from Tamil Nadu. They have been shifted to a rehabilitation centre.
Police sources said the operation has brought to light how such establishments misuse residential areas for unlawful activities.
