Man Arrested for Killing Sister, Her Alleged Partner in Kodagu Village

Madikeri: The Kodagu police have arrested a 64-year-old man for allegedly killing his sister and her suspected partner in Kundacheri village under the jurisdiction of Bhagamandala Police Station on Wednesday.

According to the police, the accused, identified as Chandu, a resident of the same village, allegedly murdered his sister Yashodha and a man named Kunhirama following a dispute. Both victims were residents of Kundacheri village.

Based on information received about the double murder, the Bhagamandala police registered a case under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and launched an investigation into the incident.

Preliminary findings by the police suggest that Yashodha and Kunhirama had reportedly been in a relationship for nearly two years. Chandu is said to have opposed their relationship. During a confrontation, the accused allegedly attacked the two with a knife, leading to their deaths, police sources said.

Following the incident, teams of police officials rushed to the spot and carried out an inspection. Bindu Mani R. N., along with senior officers and crime detection staff, visited the scene of the crime to collect evidence and gather details related to the case.

The accused has since been taken into custody and further investigation is under way, according to a statement issued by the office of the Superintendent of Police, Kodagu district.
