Napoklu: Napoklu: A man was allegedly assaulted by a group of youths at Napoklu in Kodagu district on Friday (February 27), reportedly during preparations for a Hindu Sangama rally.
The injured has been identified as Appachira Gautham. He was initially treated locally and later shifted to the Kodagu District Hospital for further medical care.
Condemning the incident, activists affiliated with Hindu organisations staged a road blockade in Napoklu town, demanding the immediate arrest of those involved. The protest disrupted vehicular movement for some time, prompting police intervention.

The incident comes a day ahead of a Hindu convention scheduled to be held at Ballamavati on February 28. In view of the prevailing tension, police have tightened security in Napoklu and surrounding areas. Additional personnel have been deployed in both Napoklu and Ballamavati as a precautionary measure to prevent any untoward incidents.
Former Virajpet MLA K.G. Bopaiah visited the Napoklu Police Station after the incident. He met the protesting activists and gathered details from police officials. Bopaiah urged the authorities to take strict legal action against those responsible for the assault.
Police said further investigation is under way regarding the incident.
