Gonikoppal: Gonikoppal witnessed an impressive turnout on Sunday, 22 September as over 3,000 runners from various parts of Karnataka took part in the Monsoon Marathon, an event organised by the KALS education institute.
The marathon drew participants of all ages, showcasing a strong commitment to physical fitness. Ashwini Nachappa, former international athlete and director of KALS School, which hosted the event, expressed her delight at the increased number of participants compared to previous years. "It is encouraging to see so many people embracing fitness, regardless of age. This marathon serves as an inspiration for the younger generation to prioritise their health and well-being," she said.
The event was overseen by Reeth Abraham, a former international track and field athlete and native of Kodagu, who ensured the smooth conduct of the competition.
The men's category saw stiff competition, with Purushottam from Mysuru claiming first place, followed closely by Raghuvaran and Ananth, both also from Mysuru, who secured second and third positions, respectively.
