Bhagamandala: Virajpet MLA A.S. Ponnanna has directed local officials to stop tourists from swimming and other activities at Triveni Sangama in Bhagamandala, emphasizing the need to protect the sanctity of this holy site. His directive came during a recent visit to inspect a newly constructed flyover in the area.
Upon witnessing tourists engaging in activities considered disrespectful to the holy site, Ponnanna immediately instructed officials to take measures to prevent such behavior. He also directed officials to put up a board near Triveni Sangama, informing visitors about the site's holiness and specifying that only ritual activities are permitted.
Triveni Sangama, located at the confluence of the rivers Cauvery, Kannike, and the subterranean Sujyoti, is revered by pilgrims who traditionally take a dip in its waters and perform rituals for their ancestors before proceeding to Talakaveri, the birthplace of the river Kaveri.
"This sacred confluence is a significant site for many pilgrims. It is our duty to ensure its sanctity is maintained," said Ponnanna. Local authorities are expected to enforce the new restrictions strictly, ensuring that Triveni Sangama remains a place of reverence and spiritual significance for all visitors.
