Madikeri Gears Up for Vijayadashami as 10 Dasara Tableaux Prepare for Night Procession

Madikeri: Madikeri is gearing up for the grand Vijayadashami celebrations on Wednesday, with 10 elaborately decorated tableaux set to parade through the town at night following the conclusion of the Jamboo Savari in Mysuru. Illuminated like floating lamps, the tableaux will portray different stories from Hindu mythology, marking the culmination of the town’s Dasara festivities.
The tableaux are being prepared by committees representing Pete Sri Rama Temple, Dechur Sri Rama Temple, Dandina Mariamma, Chowdeshwari Balaka Bhakta Mandali, Kanchi Kamakshamma Muthumariamma Balaka Mandali, Kundurumotte Chouti Mariamma, Kodanda Rama Temple, Kote Mariamma, Kote Ganapathi and Karavale Bhagavathi.
To maintain law and order during the celebrations, 1,451 police personnel have been deployed across the town.
The use of loudspeakers has emerged as a key concern ahead of the procession. Superintendent of Police R.N. Bindu Mani has directed organisers to adhere to prescribed noise pollution limits and the Supreme Court’s guidelines. She warned that violations would invite legal action and clarified that loudspeakers would not be permitted beyond 10 pm.
Authorities have also announced traffic diversions for October 21 to facilitate the smooth movement of vehicles during the festivities.
Heavy vehicles travelling from Mysuru towards Mangaluru have been instructed to take the alternative route via K.R. Nagar, Arakalgudu, Sakleshpur and Shiradi.
Light motor vehicles will be diverted through Kushalnagar, Guddehosur, Ammathi–Ontiyangadi, Maragodu, Hakathur, Mekeri and the bypass, before reaching Talathmane and continuing towards Mangaluru.
Meanwhile, Gonikoppal in Ponnampet taluk is also set to witness Vijayadashami celebrations. The procession of decorative tableaux will begin in the afternoon, followed by the grand parade of the 10 Dasara tableaux at night.
With security arrangements and traffic restrictions in place, the celebrations are expected to draw crowds to the streets of Madikeri and Gonikoppal.
