Lions Club Gonikoppal Hosts District-Level 5-A-Side Hockey Tournament on Nov 30

Gonikoppa: The Lions Club Gonikoppal will host a one-day District Level 5-A-Side Hockey Tournament for pre-university boys and girls on November 30, 2024, at the Lions Primary School turf in Kaikeri, Gonikoppa. With 16 teams confirmed, the event promises an exciting showcase of skill, sportsmanship, and camaraderie among youth.

The tournament will begin at 9 AM and will feature teams from across the district, competing for top honors in both boys' and girls' categories. "The aim of the event is not only to showcase the athletic talent of the participants but also to encourage a spirit of sportsmanship and teamwork among the youth," informed CT Appanna, the Lion Club President.

"We are excited to host this district-level tournament and provide a platform for the young players to showcase their talent," said Lokesh Kariappa, the tournament director. "The event is part of our ongoing efforts to promote sports, especially hockey, among the younger generation. By organizing this event, we hope to inspire more students to take up the sport and foster a greater sense of community and healthy competition."

The tournament will be played in a 5-a-side format, ensuring fast-paced and action-packed matches. The event will conclude with a prize distribution ceremony in the evening, where the winners will receive awards and recognition for their outstanding performances.

In addition to the competitive matches, the tournament is expected to be a great opportunity for players to interact, learn from each other, and build lasting friendships. Organizers are hopeful that the event will inspire more youth to take up hockey and other sports, contributing to the overall development of sports culture in the region.
