Kodagu Golf Open Championship 2025 Crowns Winners in Mysuru

Mysuru: The 24th edition of the Kodagu Golf Open Championship 2025 concluded with a grand showcase of golfing talent at the Jayachamaraja Wadiyar Golf Club (JWGC) in Mysuru on September 27 and 28.
According to a press release issued by Tournament Sub-Committee Chairperson Sonam Chugh and Hon. Secretary V.G. Achar, the two-day event saw a participation of 294 golfers, making it one of the largest amateur golfing competitions in the region.
In the Strokeplay Gross category for the prestigious Field Marshal Cariappa Memorial Trophy, H.S. Arun Kumar clinched the winner’s title with a gross score of 75, edging out runner-up M.G. Chengappa, who finished with 76.
The Strokeplay Net (Handicap 0–12) section, played for the Gen. K.S. Thimmaiah Memorial Trophy, was won by Jhatin A. Ahuja with an impressive 65 Net. He was followed by Varun Ganapathy, who scored 69 Net and secured the runner-up spot on a better back nine over M.R. Mohan Kumar.
In the Strokeplay Net (Handicap 13–18) category, Sqn. Ldr. M.B. Chittiappa Memorial Trophy winner was Samarth S. Urs with 62 Net, while Dr. S. Ravi Kumar finished runner-up with 65 Net.
The Stableford Net (Handicap 0–18) event, held for the Kodagu Warriors Trophy, was claimed by K.C. Vishwananda Bhat with 41 points. He was closely followed by C.P. Kariappa, who finished with 40 points, beating Gp. Capt. HMV Murthy and Dr. Maneesh S. Giri on a better back nine.
In the Stableford Net (Handicap 19–24) section, Kodagu Challenge Trophy winner was K. Shankar with 41 points. Runner-up honours went to Mrinalini Chinnappa, who tallied 40 points.
For senior participants aged 65 years and above, the Senior Challenge Trophy was secured by Gp. Capt. HMV Murthy with 39 points, while Cmde. Ajay Kumar Sharma placed second with 38. In the Super Seniors (75 years and above), Dr. P.A. Kushalappa Trophy winner was G.B. Hiremaneyavar with 39 points.
Special awards also recognised excellence among Kodagu, women, and younger golfers. The Best Kodagu Golfer title went to A.N. Bopanna (39 points), while the Best Lady Golfer award was won by Sonam Chugh (36 points).
Other highlights included precision and power contests. Nearest to the Pin awards went to Yuktha Janardhan (2nd hole), G. Hrithik (6th), V. Suresh (12th), and Gp. Capt. HMV Murthy (15th). Longest Drive honours on the 9th hole went to Aditya Chawla with a remarkable 329 yards, while the Straightest Drive on the 14th was won by H.M. Manu, who struck just two inches off the line.
