Karnataka Coffee and Pepper Price Update for Kodagu, Chikkamagaluru & Hassan

MADIKERI: The Karnataka Planters’ Association released the latest market rates for coffee and pepper on Friday, May 2, 2025. As per the update, Arabica Parchment is trading between Rs. 27,500 and Rs. 28,200 per 50 kilograms. Arabica Cherry is fetching prices ranging from Rs. 15,500 to Rs. 17,200 per 50 kilograms.

In the Robusta segment, Robusta Parchment is priced between Rs. 22,200 and Rs. 23,000 per 50 kilograms, while Robusta Cherry is being sold at Rs. 12,000 to Rs. 13,000 per 50 kilograms.

Black pepper prices have also been updated, with the current rate standing at Rs. 730 per kilogram.

Karnataka is India’s largest coffee-producing state, accounting for over 70% of the country’s total production. Kodagu (Coorg) remains the top coffee-producing district, contributing nearly 40% of Karnataka’s total output. The district is known for its high-quality Arabica and Robusta varieties cultivated under the shade of native trees in rich, fertile soils.

Apart from Kodagu, Chikkamagaluru and Hassan are also prominent coffee-growing regions. Chikkamagaluru is considered the birthplace of Indian coffee and produces a balanced mix of Arabica and Robusta. Hassan, with its unique climatic conditions, contributes significantly to the Robusta crop.

With the arrival of the monsoon in a few weeks, planters across these districts are preparing their estates for the upcoming agricultural season. Market price trends, weather forecasts, and export demand will play a key role in shaping the season ahead.
