India’s Coffee Output Projected To Rise To 3.63 Lakh Tonnes In 2024-25 Despite Weather Challenges

Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP Kota Srinivas Poojary raised a query in the Lok Sabha seeking details on the coffee production figures for 2023-24 and the estimates for 2024-25.

New Delhi: Despite fluctuations in weather affecting Karnataka's coffee-growing regions, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry has forecast a marginal increase in coffee production for 2024-25. The output is expected to reach 3.63 lakh tonnes, compared to 3.60 lakh tonnes in 2023-24.

Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP Kota Srinivas Poojary raised a query in the Lok Sabha seeking details on the coffee production figures for 2023-24 and the estimates for 2024-25.

In a written response, Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal revealed that coffee production for 2023-24 stood at 3,60,500 tonnes, while provisional estimates for 2024-25 indicate a slight increase to 3,63,300 tonnes.

Responding to another query about the Coffee Board's roadmap for the next decade, Mr Goyal stated that the Board is implementing the Integrated Coffee Development Project (ICDP) to foster growth in the sector nationwide.

“The scheme encompasses activities such as replantation, quality enhancement, water resource development, area expansion, and consolidation to boost coffee production, productivity, and quality. Additionally, the Coffee Board promotes Indian coffee in international markets by participating in global events and supports efforts to increase exports of high-value and value-added coffee,” Mr Goyal explained.
