Madikeri: High-end explosives have been discovered within the forest area in Kerala, a mere 15 kilometers from the Kodagu district border. The incident has prompted a thorough investigation by Kerala police.
According to a report published in DH, forest department personnel spotted the explosives during a routine patrol in the Thalapuzha Makkimala Kodakkad area of North Wayanad on Tuesday, 25 June. Upon inspection, it was determined that the devices were composed of gelatin sticks, fuse wires, and other explosive materials. According to the DH report, the explosives have been successfully diffused.
In response to the discovery, the Thunderbolts, Kerala's anti-naxal force, conducted a comprehensive combing operation. They were supported by a bomb defusing squad and a dog squad, ensuring the area was thoroughly searched for any additional threats.
This discovery comes about a month and a half after an exchange of gunfire between Kerala police and naxalites, just six kilometers from where the explosives were found.
