Today, coffee prices in Kodagu, Coorg in Karnataka saw notable figures, reflecting market trends and the high-quality yield of Karnataka’s coffee-growing belt.
The price of Robusta Cherry EP is 440(spot lift), while Robusta Fruit was priced at ₹96 per kg (spot lift). Arabica Cherry, renowned for its mild flavor and aromatic notes, fetched ₹12,800 per bag on 24 January 2025 in Kodagu(Coorg).
Kodagu, along with Chikkamagaluru and Hassan, forms the heart of Karnataka’s coffee industry, which accounts for nearly 70% of India’s total coffee production. The region is celebrated for its ideal growing conditions, including rich soil, high-altitude plantations, and favorable climatic conditions. While Arabica is preferred for its smooth taste, Robusta, with its higher caffeine content, is widely sought after in the instant coffee market.
Farmers in Kodagu rely heavily on coffee as a primary source of income, with estates ranging from sprawling plantations to smallholder farms. Karnataka’s coffee is not just a local treasure but also a global commodity, with significant exports to Europe, the United States, and Japan.
