Tamil Nadu CM Vijay's party performs yagna at Talacauvery to seek blessings for rain

Bhagamandala(Talacauvery): A delegation of office-bearers from the Thanjavur South District unit of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), the political party led by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay, performed special prayers and a homam at Talacauvery in Kodagu district on Thursday, seeking divine blessings for abundant rainfall during the southwest monsoon.

According to Madhan, district secretary of the TVK Thanjavur South District Unit, the party organised the puja and homam at the birthplace of the River Cauvery by engaging local priests and offering prayers for good rainfall across the Cauvery basin.

Speaking to media in Tamil Nadu, Mr. Madhan said the group considered it an auspicious sign when rain began just as the rituals were drawing to a close. "As our prayer was about to conclude, the skies opened up at Talacauvery. It brought immense joy to all of us," he said.

The visit comes at a time when the Cauvery catchment areas in both Karnataka and Tamil Nadu have recorded significantly below-normal rainfall this monsoon. Kodagu, the birthplace of the River Cauvery and one of the key catchment districts, has also experienced a weak monsoon so far this season, raising concerns over inflows into the Cauvery river system and water availability downstream.
