Madikeri: The indefinite bus strike called by the Joint Action Committee (JAC) of Road Transport Corporation (RTC) employees on Tuesday had minimal impact in Kodagu district, where most Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) buses continued to operate as usual.

According to officials in Madikeri, there were no disruptions to services within the district, and even buses bound for destinations outside Kodagu ran on schedule. Only minor disturbances were reported from Kushalnagar, where a few services may have been delayed.

A KSRTC official in Madikeri said, “All our services in Kodagu are running smoothly. Even the long-distance routes towards Mysuru, Bengaluru and Mangaluru were operational.”

Another official attributed the stability to the district's continued dependence on private bus operators, which cater to a large section of daily commuters. As a result, public transport in Kodagu remained largely unaffected.

Meanwhile, in a significant development on Tuesday evening, the JAC announced a temporary postponement of the strike following a direction from the Karnataka High Court. JAC leaders, while maintaining that the protest was driven by unresolved demands, asked all RTC employees to resume duties immediately.

Bus services across the state are expected to return to normal soon. The indefinite strike, which began at 6 a.m. on August 5, was called to press for long-pending issues such as wage revisions, job security, and better working conditions.
