Army Soldier Shoots Wife in Kodagu, Victim Rushed to Mysuru Hospital

According to police, as reported by Channel Coorg, the accused has been identified as Vinu Kariappa, a native of Konageri who is currently serving in the Indian Army.

Ponnampet: A shocking incident was reported on Tuesday evening in Hudikeri’s Konageri village, Ponnampet taluk in Kodagu district where a soldier allegedly shot his wife following a domestic dispute.

According to police, as reported by Channel Coorg, the accused has been identified as Vinu Kariappa, a native of Konageri who is currently serving in the Indian Army. At around 5 p.m., Kariappa is said to have fired at his wife, B. Dechamma(32), near their residence. Preliminary reports suggest that a family quarrel may have led to the attack.

The victim sustained a gunshot injury to her right cheek. She was rushed to the Gonikoppal Government Hospital, where doctors administered first aid. Considering the seriousness of the injury, she was later referred to Mysuru for advanced medical care. Hospital sources confirmed that she is out of danger.

Relatives immediately alerted the Srimangala police, who have registered a case and begun investigations. Officers said inquiries are underway to establish the exact sequence of events and the motive behind the shooting.
