₹18.05 Lakh Collected in First Hundi Counting at Bhagandeshwara–Talacauvery Temple

Bhagamandala: A total of ₹18.05 lakh was collected during the first hundi (offering box) counting held at the Sri Bhagandeshwara–Talacauvery Temple in Bhagamandala, Kodagu district, following the recent Sri Cauvery Theerthodbhava festival.
The counting, which covered donations made between September 20 and October 29, 2025, was conducted on Wednesday morning at 8 a.m. in the presence of officials from various departments. Staff from the Canara Bank, Bhagamandala Police Station, temple administration, Revenue Department, and several volunteers took part in the exercise. The entire process was recorded on video to ensure transparency.
According to Temple Executive Officer Chandrashekar, the overall collection amounted to ₹18,05,000, reflecting the devotion of pilgrims who visited the sacred site during the festive period. The temple authorities have released the detailed breakup of the amount received from different sources.
The Sri Talacauvery Temple collected ₹7,27,389, while the Sri Bhagandeshwara Temple accounted for ₹5,44,333. Contributions to the Anna Santharpane (free meal) fund stood at ₹2,52,867, and e-hundi donations-made through online offerings totalled ₹2,80,411.
The Cauvery Theerthodbhava, observed annually at Talacauvery, marks the holy moment when water springs from the Brahmakundike, symbolising the birth of the River Cauvery. Thousands of devotees from Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and beyond throng the temple each year to witness the auspicious event and make offerings.
