Yaduveer Urges Centre to Fix Poor BSNL Connectivity in Kodagu

One of the critical issues, the MP pointed out, is the failure of power backup systems at BSNL towers.

Mysuru/New Delhi: Mysuru-Kodagu MP Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar has urged Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia to urgently address the persistent connectivity issues in Karnataka’s Kodagu district, where BSNL services remain unreliable and frequently disrupted.

During a recent meeting in New Delhi, Mr. Wadiyar submitted a memorandum highlighting the need for immediate upgrades to BSNL infrastructure, especially after recent heavy rains severely damaged key telecom equipment in the region.

Addressing reporters following the meeting, the MP said, “Continuous rainfall in Kodagu has knocked down several electricity and telephone poles, causing major outages in telecom services.” He requested the minister to direct concerned departments to speed up restoration and repair work.

Despite repeated representations to BSNL officials, outdated infrastructure has not been replaced, he said. “The standard of BSNL service in Kodagu is extremely poor. There is an urgent need for intervention to improve the situation,” he remarked.

Mr. Wadiyar also raised concerns about the difficulties faced by students and government staff. Many students, he said, are unable to attend online classes or access digital educational resources due to poor network coverage. Similarly, government offices are finding it hard to function smoothly amid frequent service breakdowns.

I had brought this issue up during the DISHA committee meeting on March 8, but the lack of response has only worsened the crisis,” he said.

Mr. Wadiyar noted that Minister Scindia had responded positively and assured him that necessary measures would be taken without delay.

Among the key demands put forth by the MP were: urgent repair of damaged BSNL towers, installation of new towers in poorly connected areas, and functional power backup systems to maintain uninterrupted service during power outages.
