Balele: In a concerted effort to empower local coffee growers, the Coffee Board Gonnikopa, in collaboration with Lakshmana Tirtha Shakara Sangha, is set to host a comprehensive workshop on February 29, 2024, at 10 am for coffee cultivators in Balele Gram Panchayat and other parts of Kodagu.


m through soil testing campaigns and technical guidance provided by Coffee Board researchers. In a bid to support this initiative, coffee growers in Balele Gram Panchayat are urged to bring soil samples from their plantations as per the Coffee Board's recommendations for on-the-spot analysis.

Speaking to The Kodagu Express, Mukharib D S, the liaison officer from the Coffee Board in Gonikoppa, highlighted the significance of this endeavor. He informed that the soil testing campaign offers a chance for growers to determine lime content through a soil moisture test at a nominal fee of ₹25. Additionally, there is an opportunity for a comprehensive Nitrogen, Phosphorus, and Potash Test at ₹150.


Mr. Mukharib encouraged all interested coffee growers to actively participate in this campaign, emphasizing the immediate results that will be provided on the same day. The initiative not only facilitates access to crucial information but also fosters a collaborative environment between growers and experts, ultimately contributing to the enhancement of coffee cultivation practices in the region.
