Bengaluru/Madikeri: According to the Synoptic Meteorological Feature issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), a low-pressure area persists over the west-central and northwest Bay of Bengal, which as of 0830 hrs IST (September 6 2024), is located over central and northern Bay of Bengal. An associated cyclonic circulation extends up to 7.6 km above mean sea level, tilting southwestward with height. This system is expected to intensify into a depression near the coasts of Gangetic West Bengal, North Odisha, and Bangladesh by 9th September. Following this, it is likely to move west-northwestwards across Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, and North Chhattisgarh over the subsequent 3-4 days.
