Traffic Ban on Kutta-Madikeri State Highway Until August 27

Recently a private bus became stranded on the Karnataka-Kerala state highway.

Madikeri: Kodagu Deputy Commissioner Venkat Raja on Monday announced a traffic ban on the Kutta-Madikeri State Highway (No. 89) from July 29 to August 27. This decision follows a landslide on the Kaimane, Manchalli village road, which is part of the Srimangala-Kutta route, exacerbated by recent heavy rains.

The Kodagu district has experienced significant rainfall over the past few days, and the Indian Meteorological Department has issued a warning of continued heavy rainfall. The current conditions have led to the collapse of a section of the Kutta State Highway in Manchalli Village, Srimangala Hobli.

Virajpet MLA A.S. Ponnanna visited several areas affected by the rain, including the Kutta-Madikeri State Highway.

As a precautionary measure, the Deputy Commissioner has prohibited all types of vehicular traffic on this road segment to ensure public safety. Travelers are advised to use the alternative route via Kutta-Chembakolli-Kannur District Main Road for travel between Kutta and Ponnampet during this period, Venkat Raja said.
