The Hindu showcases Kodava's deep love for hockey in new documentary

Madikeri: 'The Kodava Love for Hockey,' a new video documentary by ‘The Hindu’ National Newspaper, has been making waves across social media platforms in Kodagu. 

Created by Kodagu native journalist Ballachanada Darshan Devaiah, Principal Correspondent of The Hindu based in Bengaluru along with his team, the documentary highlights the passion and dedication that the Kodava community holds for the sport of hockey.

The documentary dives deep into the history and tradition of Kodava Hockey, showcasing how the sport has grown and evolved over the years. It emphasizes the unifying power of hockey in Kodagu, bringing together different generations and families through a shared love for the game.

In the documentary, Mr. Darshan Devaiah interviews various young and senior hockey players from the region, providing insight into their personal experiences and aspirations. Notably, he speaks with Pandanda K. Bopanna, President of the Kodava Hockey Academy, who sheds light on the sport's development and the Academy's efforts to nurture talent in the region.

The documentary also features the Kundyolanda family, hosts of this year's tournament, now in its 24th edition. 'The Kodava Love for Hockey' has been widely praised for its vivid portrayal of Kodagu's hockey heritage, and it continues to captivate viewers with its compelling narrative and heartfelt storytelling.
