Minister for Revenue Krishna Byregowda toured rain-affected areas in Kodagu on Wednesday, meeting with Madikeri MLA Mantar Gowda and district officials.

Madikeri: The district of Kodagu also known as Coorg experienced a brief respite from heavy rains on Wednesday morning, but authorities remain vigilant as the threat of flooding persists. As of 8:30 a.m. on July 31, the region recorded 60.87 mm of rainfall over the preceding 24 hours, a notable decrease from the 114.8 mm recorded in the previous day.

Minister for Revenue Krishna Byregowda visited several rain-affected areas in Kodagu on Wednesday, meeting with Madikeri MLA Mantar Gowda and district administration officials. During his visit, Byregowda inspected the care center set up at Valnur Primary School in Thyagathur Village, where 25 families have sought shelter. He was briefed by officials about the facilities and support available at the center.

District in-charge minister N.S. Boseraju also joined the efforts, with plans to tour the flood-affected areas of Kodagu on July 31 and August 1 to assess the situation.

In related news, the outflow from the Harangi reservoir was recorded at 19,205 cusecs as of 8 a.m. on July 31. This high outflow is expected to contribute to the inflow into the KRS dam downstream, adding another dimension to the flood management efforts.

The district administration remains on high alert, with rescue teams deployed to vulnerable areas, ensuring preparedness as conditions evolve, said officials.
