Six Cattle Electrocuted in Theralu Village, Kodagu Due to Fallen Electric Wire

The incident occurred on Monday when heavy rains caused an 11 KV electric wire to break and fall onto the ground.

Ponnampet: Tragedy struck Theralu village in Ponnampet taluk on Monday when six cattle, including cows and calves, were electrocuted after an electric wire fell to the ground.

The incident occurred on Monday when heavy rains caused an 11 KV electric wire to break and fall onto the ground. The cattle, belonging to local farmer Bojjangada Nataraj (Nanda), were approaching their shed when they came into contact with the live wire.

According to residents, the sudden contact with the high-voltage wire resulted in the immediate death of all six animals. “The electric wire had fallen because of the heavy rains, and as the cows moved towards their shed, they were shocked by the live wire,” said a local resident.

The unfortunate event has sparked concerns among the villagers about the safety of electric infrastructure in their area, especially during the monsoon season when heavy rains are common.

Authorities have been alerted to the situation, and investigations are underway to determine the exact cause of the wire’s failure and to prevent such incidents in the future.
