Republic Day call for Codava Autonomy: CNC urges recognition and constitutional Support

The CNC, on January 26, 2024, planned a peaceful program near the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Madikeri to underscore their demands.

Madikeri: In a fervent appeal ahead of the 74th Republic Day, the Codava National Council (CNC) has called for the realization of their constitutional and indigenous aspirations.

Emphasizing the essence of Codava conscience, consensus, and consciousness, the CNC advocates for the creation of Codavaland Geo-Political Autonomy under Article 244 of the Constitution, in conjunction with the 6th and 8th Schedules. Additionally, the CNC seeks United Nations recognition for the Indigenous Codavas and Scheduled Tribe status for the minuscule micro Codava Race.

The CNC, on January 26, 2024, planned a peaceful program near the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Madikeri to underscore their demands. The focal point of the program, occurring between 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM, is to draw attention to the constitutional mechanism under Article 32, aiming to achieve paramount aspirations and goals.

Following the program, CNC volunteers will submit a comprehensive memorandum to various dignitaries. The list includes The President of India, the Prime Minister of India, the Union Minister for Home Affairs, the Union Minister of Law & Justice, and renowned economist Subramanian Swamy. Additionally, the memorandum will be presented to The Secretary General of the United Nations Organization (UNO).

The CNC's appeal underscores a call for constitutional recognition, autonomy, and international acknowledgment for the Codava community on this significant Republic Day.
