Over 70 people fall ill after wedding feast, admitted to Kushalnagar government hospital

Madikeri MLA Dr Mantar Gowda visited the hospital to assess the situation firsthand and meet with the affected individuals.

Kushalnagar: In a distressing turn of events, more than 70 people who attended a wedding function in Doddahosur of Koppa village have fallen seriously ill on Thursday(April 25). The victims are currently undergoing treatment at the Kushalnagar Community Health Centre in Kodagu district, which is now grappling with a surge in patients.

The situation has reached critical levels as the health centre is reportedly facing a shortage of beds, forcing patients to receive treatment on the floor. With government hospitals already at capacity due to the influx of patients, individuals seeking medical assistance are turning to private hospitals and clinics in Kushalnagar.

According to reports, the lack of doctors and medical staff in the health centre has exacerbated the situation, prompting patients to seek care from private healthcare providers.

In response to the crisis, Madikeri MLA Dr Mantar Gowda visited the hospital to assess the situation firsthand and meet with the affected individuals. He directed hospital officials to prioritize the well-being of the patients and ensure they receive the necessary care and attention.

The exact cause of the illness among the wedding attendees is yet to be determined, and health authorities are conducting investigations.
