Madikeri: The Anti-Naxal Force (ANF) personnel have initiated combing operations in the forest areas near the Kodagu-Dakshina Kannada border, specifically around Kukke Subrahmanya, following reports of several Maoists being sighted in the area recently.
Kodagu Superintendent of Police K Ramarajan said, “It is nearly certain that one of the four individuals found in Koojimale in Kadamakal in Madikeri taluk was Naxal leader Vikram Gowda. While buying groceries, they had solicited support. A team of over 40 men is conducting combing operations.”
Ramarajan mentioned that among the four individuals, two were women, all of whom were armed with guns and magazines. "They had also cautioned against informing the police. We are tracking their movements but cannot disclose further details at this time," he added.
Following information about Naxal movement, ANF teams from Karkala and Bhagamandala camps swiftly moved to the area and commenced the combing operation. SP Jitendra Kumar Dayam of the Anti-Naxal Force is currently stationed in the area, overseeing the combing operations.
