Somwarpet: Marriages often face challenges, from dowry disputes to disagreements over trivial matters. However, a recent incident in Somwarpet, Kodagu, has taken a bizarre turn, leading to the cancellation of a wedding over the absence of a single sweet.

The incident unfolded following the arranged marriage of a young woman from Somwarpet, scheduled to marry Harshit from Tumakuru. The wedding preparations were meticulous, with all arrangements set at a Convention Hall. The engagement and mehndi ceremonies took place on Saturday night, May 4th, as planned, according to a report published in Asianet Suvarna News.

Trouble brewed when the bride's family arrived late to the event, reportedly after 7 o'clock, delaying the proceedings. This delay irked the groom's family, setting a tense tone for the rest of the evening.

During the engagement ceremony, a small but significant incident occurred that sparked a major conflict. The groom's friends were reportedly not served a sweet, triggering a heated argument between the groom and the bride's family. This disagreement quickly escalated, leading to the abrupt cancellation of the wedding by the groom's family, citing their discontent over the situation.

Harshit, the groom, employed as a civil engineer in a private company in Bengaluru, had initially been introduced to the young woman through a matrimonial website. Both families have since filed complaints at the local police station regarding the cancellation of the wedding.
