Madikeri: The Forest Department has announced that Mandalpatti, a popular hilltop tourist destination near Madikeri, will remain closed to visitors from February 16 to 28 owing to road repair and development works.
According to Abhishek, Deputy Conservator of Forests (DCF), Madikeri Division, the temporary closure has been necessitated to facilitate repair and improvement of the approach road leading to the tourist spot. The works are being taken up within the jurisdiction of the Madikeri Range under the Madikeri Territorial Division.
During this period, entry will not be permitted to the public, tourists, or any vehicles. The Forest Department has urged visitors to take note of the restriction and plan their trips accordingly to avoid inconvenience.
Mandalpatti, located amid reserve forest area, attracts a large number of tourists for its panoramic views, especially during weekends and holiday seasons. However, the approach road, which is accessed primarily through off-road vehicles, has been in need of repairs due to wear and tear.
Officials said the improvement works are aimed at ensuring better safety and smoother access in the long term. The department is expected to reopen the destination to visitors after the completion of the works on February 28.
