Virajpet: The 2nd District Sessions Court in Virajpet has sentenced Pani Yaravara Ravi, also known as Manikanta, to life imprisonment for the murder of a two-year-old child. The court, presided over by Judge S. Sujatha, also imposed a fine of ₹55,000 after finding Ravi guilty of the heinous crime.
According to a report by Praja Vani report, the tragic incident occurred on December 21, 2020, in Nemmale East, where the accused, Ravi, lived with Geetha, the child’s mother, in a labour quarters. Geetha and her husband, Subramani, were separated, with their two children staying with each parent. The victim, a two-year-old boy, was under Geetha's care, while her daughter stayed with Subramani.
Ravi reportedly pressured Geetha to send the child to her estranged husband. On the day of the crime, following an argument, Ravi brutally assaulted the child, leading to his death. Geetha filed a complaint at the Ponnampet police station, detailing Ravi’s threats and the attack.
The investigation, led by officer Parashivamurthy, concluded with a chargesheet submitted to the court, resulting in the conviction.
