Speaking about the achievement, Centre Head Mrs. Mapangada Kavitha Karumbaiah said that the online competition posed a real challenge for the Madikeri children, particularly as they are not as tech-savvy as their counterparts in major cities.
She explained that the participants were required to solve around 50 complex sums on a laptop or desktop within just four minutes, with audio, video and screen-sharing enabled, and without any adult intervention.
“In spite of poor network connectivity and slow internet, which is a major drawback in our hilly region of Madikeri, the children performed extremely well,” she said.
Kavitha Karumbaiah attributed the success entirely to the dedication and hard work of the children and the consistent support of their parents. She also expressed gratitude to Dr. Sowmya, Lecturer at F.M.K.M.C. College, for assisting the children with the online procedures.
The achievement has brought pride to Madikeri and highlighted the talent and determination of children from the region in competing successfully on a global platform.
