NewDelhi/Madikeri: As part of the 78th Independence Day celebrations on Thursday, August 15, PT Devi, President of the Kanoor Grama Panchayat in Kodagu, has been selected to attend the prestigious event at the Red Fort in Delhi.
PT Devi is among the 300 Panchayat leaders from across India, including elected women representatives (EWRs) of Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs), invited as special guests to this grand occasion.
From Karnataka, six Panchayat representatives, including PT Devi, have been honored with an invitation to the Independence Day festivities. Devi has already reached New Delhi and is attending the event, said officials. This visit to the national capital is designed to be a comprehensive and enriching experience, involving a series of events and activities, as highlighted in a press release from the Press Information Bureau (PIB).
The program aims to celebrate and showcase the accomplishments of women leaders and promote their greater inclusion in local governance. The event will feature a speech by Shri Rajiv Ranjan Singh, alias Lalan Singh, the Union Minister of Panchayati Raj and Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying, along with other distinguished dignitaries.
