Suntikoppa: Two men have been taken into custody for allegedly threatening a local resident at gunpoint in Nakuru Shirangala near Suntikoppa, Kodagu district, on Wednesday.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Shashi and Anil, both residents of the same village. They reportedly confronted their neighbour, Prasanna, and pointed a firearm at him while issuing threats to his life.

According to police sources, Prasanna had informed authorities about untreated wastewater from a piggery unit allegedly operated by Shashi and Anil being discharged into a natural stream. The stream is said to flow into the backwaters of the Harangi dam, raising environmental concerns in the area.

The disclosure apparently led to a dispute between the neighbours. During the altercation, Shashi and Anil allegedly threatened Prasanna with serious consequences and pointed a gun at him in an attempt to intimidate him into silence.

Following a formal complaint filed by Prasanna, the Suntikoppa Police registered a case and launched an investigation. The accused were apprehended soon after, and the weapon used in the incident was seized by the police.

Subsequently, both Shashi and Anil were produced before a local magistrate and have been remanded to judicial custody. Police officials stated that further investigation is underway.
