Kodagu Native IRS Officer Punith Kuttaiah Honored for Uncovering ₹3,000 Crore Tax Evasion


New Delhi: Kodagu native IRS officer Muckatira Punith Kuttaiah, currently serving as the Deputy Director of Investigation in Hyderabad, has been awarded the Certificate of Excellence for being part of a team that uncovered ₹3,000 crore evasion. The award was presented in the presence of Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary during the 165th Income Tax Day celebrations held in New Delhi on August 22.


According to the Ministry of Finance, Kuttaiah's team made a significant impact by uncovering tax evasion amounting to approximately ₹3,000 crores. This achievement has been hailed as a crucial step in the ongoing efforts to curb financial misconduct in the country.


Kuttaiah is the son of Muckatira (Devanageri) Prakash Belliappa and Jamuna Accamma, who reside in Byrambada, Kodagu.
