Madikeri: The BJP intensified its campaign in Kodagu, a pivotal segment of the Mysuru Lok Sabha constituency, as Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar immersed himself in a two-day stay in the district.
Over the course of Sunday and Monday, a robust agenda comprising approximately 25 to 30 events has been organized. These events encompass a spectrum of activities ranging from corner meetings and engagements with BJP members to direct interactions with the public.
On Sunday witnessed Mr Yaduveer's active participation in 16 meetings across various locales such as Ponnampet, Hudikeri, Birunani, T. Shettigeri, Srimangala, Kutta, Balale, Tithimathi, Gonnikoppal, etc., where he engaged with locals at public venues including bus stops and temples.
On Monday, a continuation of this momentum is planned with a series of meetings scheduled, including sessions with prominent BJP leaders like Appacchu Ranjan and Jeevijaya. The itinerary also includes a notable public gathering in Somwarpete at 11.30 a.m.
Although Kodagu was historically a stronghold for the BJP, recent electoral shifts in the 2023 Assembly elections saw the Congress make inroads, reclaiming both the Virajpet and Madikeri assembly seats. Despite this, the BJP remains resilient in the district, with a strong support base fueled by unique demographic and caste dynamics distinct from Mysuru, prompting a renewed focus on Kodagu.
Mr Yaduveer's visit to Kodagu follows a whirlwind tour of educational institutions in Mysuru and engagements with various temples and corner meetings on Saturday. His speeches, whether in Mysuru or Kodagu, echo the vision of a Developed India by 2047 championed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Additionally, he underscores the enduring legacy of the Wadiyars in the development of Mysuru, citing landmark projects like the KRS dam, K.R. Hospital, and educational institutions.
