Kodagu DC Transferred; Somashekar S. J. to Take Charge

Bengaluru: The Karnataka government has ordered the transfer of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Kodagu district and appointed a new officer to the post, as part of a set of administrative transfers and promotions effective January 1, 2026.
According to the official order, Venkat Raja, a 2013-batch Karnataka cadre IAS officer and the incumbent Deputy Commissioner of Kodagu, has been transferred and posted as Commissioner, Survey Settlement and Land Records in Bengaluru.
Following his transfer, Somashekar S. J., a 2017-batch Karnataka cadre IAS officer, has been appointed as the new Deputy Commissioner of Kodagu district. Prior to this posting, Mr. Somashekar was serving as Commissioner for Rural Development in Bengaluru. He is expected to take charge in the coming days.
The transfer marks an important administrative change in Kodagu district, with the new Deputy Commissioner expected to take over key governance, development and revenue-related matters in the district.
Meanwhile, earlier on Wednesday, the State government also ordered the transfer of Kodagu Superintendent of Police Ramarajan. R.N. Bindu Mani, who was serving as Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order), Mysuru city, has been appointed as the new Superintendent of Police of Kodagu district.
The changes are part of the State’s routine administrative reshuffle at the beginning of the year.
