Karnataka Government to empowers women entrepreneurs in coffee sector

Bengaluru: In a groundbreaking initiative, the Karnataka government, in partnership with the Coffee Board, has unveiled plans to train one lakh women members of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) as coffee entrepreneurs. 


This strategic move aims to empower women in regions vital to the coffee industry, specifically in Kodagu, Chikmagalur, and Hassan districts of Karnataka, where coffee cultivation thrives.


Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, while presenting the budget on February 16, announced the allocation of Rs. 25 crore for the establishment of 2,500 Coffee Kiosks.



These kiosks will be exclusively managed by women from SHGs, further promoting female participation in the coffee sector. 


Apart from this, Mr Siddaramaiah announced a Spice Park which will be developed in  Chikkamagaluru district under public-private  partnership to encourage spice growing farmers and to promote export of spices, according to Mr Siddaramaiah's budget speech in Vidhana Soudha.
