Jammada Preeth Appaiah Felicitated for Mountaineering, Shooting Achievements

Preeth Appaiah has made significant progress towards completing the prestigious Seven Summits challenge, having successfully scaled three of the world’s highest continental peaks.

Bengaluru: Celebrated mountaineer and competitive shooter Jammada Preeth Appaiah was formally felicitated in Bengaluru for her achievements in sports and adventure. Energy Minister K. J. George and Chief Minister’s Political Secretary Ajjikuttira S. Ponnanna, on behalf of Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar, honoured her for bringing recognition to Karnataka.

Preeth Appaiah has made significant progress towards completing the prestigious Seven Summits challenge, having successfully scaled three of the world’s highest continental peaks. She climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro (5,895 metres), Africa’s highest peak, in 2023. In 2024, she reached Mt. Elbrus (5,642 metres) in Russia, considered the highest peak in Europe. Most recently, she scaled Mt. Kosciuszko (2,228 metres), Australia’s highest mountain, on August 15, 2026.

Apart from mountaineering, Appaiah has also excelled in competitive shooting. She has won two gold medals at the Karnataka State Level Shooting Championship held at SAI Bengaluru, besides securing silver and bronze medals in several state and regional competitions.

Speaking at the felicitation, K. J. George praised her dedication and said her achievements in both shooting and mountaineering were an inspiration to Karnataka’s youth.

Ponnanna conveyed the Chief Minister’s wishes and assured continued encouragement for athletes bringing pride to the state.
