Ponnampet: Kodagu district has been grappling with significant rain-related damage over the past few days. A large tree fell across the Besagoor Nallur Road due to the relentless downpour, causing a severe traffic jam that has persisted through the night while the stretch is blocked for vehicle movement.
The incident has effectively cut off the road connecting to Kerala, leaving residents stranded and exacerbating the situation. Local residents have voiced their frustration, accusing the village administration of neglect in addressing the aftermath of the heavy rains. The ongoing adverse weather conditions have further compounded the difficulties faced by the community, highlighting the need for timely intervention and effective management to mitigate such disruptions.
Authorities are urged to expedite the clearing of the blocked road and provide necessary assistance to affected residents.
Meanwhile, another landslide occurred on the Madikeri-Kutta highway in the district, with a small landslip detected along the roadside.
