Kadanga(Virajpet):A 57-year-old tourist from Goa died after reportedly experiencing breathing difficulties while entering a swimming pool at a private resort in Kadanga near Virajpet on Monday, June 16, 2026.
The deceased has been identified as Manoj Anand (57). According to family members of the victim, Manoj had arrived at the resort on Monday afternoon along with his wife and two children for a family vacation. After checking in, the family went to the resort’s swimming pool.
Manoj reportedly complained of breathing problems while entering the pool. Resort staff and family members immediately rushed him to a hospital in Virajpet for treatment.
The body has been kept at the hospital for a post-mortem examination and will be handed over to the family after the completion of legal formalities, police said.
Officials from the Virajpet Rural Police Station visited the spot and conducted an inspection. A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway to ascertain the exact cause of death.
The incident comes days after a tragic death in Kodagu, where a 27-year-old tourist woman, Vinutha, allegedly died from carbon monoxide poisoning caused by a gas geyser leak at a homestay in the Kalkanduru area near Madikeri, Kodagu. She was on a weekend trip with her colleagues when she was found unconscious in a bathroom lacking proper ventilation.
