Bengaluru: A high-level meeting was held on Friday at the office of Forest Minister Eshwar B. Khandre to address pressing issues in Kodagu district.

The meeting was attended by Kodagu District In-charge Minister N.S. Boseraju, Virajpet MLA A.S. Ponnanna, and Madikeri MLA Dr. Mantar Gowda, along with senior forest officials.

Ponnanna highlighted that the courts have already recognised the property rights of Jamamale landholders and stressed that the government must act swiftly to implement these orders. He urged that immediate measures be taken to ensure justice. Khandre instructed officials to prepare and submit a proposal to the government at the earliest.

The meeting also discussed the need for a joint survey of C&D land to protect the rights of occupants. Another major concern was the rising human casualties due to frequent elephant attacks in Kodagu. Farmers continue to suffer both personal loss and agricultural damage as elephants and tigers repeatedly invade villages.

Minister Khandre directed officials to take urgent steps to prevent further human deaths, instil confidence among residents, and conduct regular awareness visits to affected villages.
